While the tourists are delighted with the beauty and fascination with the coral which form the parrachos, the beach natives beach want you to keep in mind Maracajaú and the purity and tranquility of the ponds. And one of them, closer to home, is the Baiãozinho, clear water and surrounded by a small preserved forest, throughout almost two kilometers of water front.

Even before the tourists are exploring Maracajaú, the families of fishermen had already played in the small pond. And the shadow of the cashew trees provided picnics for the fun of all the children. And as the times were difficult and they wanted to try something different that did not remind them of the routine of day-to-day living eating the small fish, they are white beans, rice and meat ‘carne da charque, and preparing the popular dish of ‘baião de dois’.

The fun was growing and the fame of baião de dois, accompanied by a ’cachacinha’, had been consolidating, until it has become affectionately known as the "baiãozinho." Today, it is maintained and rare is the day that entire families are not there. The womens addition to preparing the lunch, lead to washing clothes, the children playing in the water and make inroads in the trees, in search of adventures and the men talk and "esquentam" the ideas with a ‘copinho’ of beer or a dose of ‘branquinha’ taking by hand a taste of ‘tiro-gosto’, such as cashew nuts or lemon.

Moreover, the fruit trees of the area, when in harvest periods, are a party in baiãozinho and provide small profits for those who engage in the venture, in the early morning, of the collection - which they call catching - fruit.

With baskets, ‘bisacos’ and backpacks, before breakfast, provides a catch of cashew nuts, mangaba, siriguela, araçá, ubaia, camboim, massaranduba and other types of berries, which in many parts of our coastline are already disappearing, because of tourism.

The pond of Baiãozinho is easily accessible and is located practically on side of the highway that connects the BR-301 to the beach. As it is little more than a kilometer away from Maracajaú it is an invitation to a healthy walk. Those who prefer can go in by car or rent horses. It is possible to go all over. But the biggest recommendation is to preserve nature, not polluting the waters, collecting all the waste produced and not interfere in plant and animal life in their own habitat, because it the man is who is the attacker.

There is no type of infrastructure at the lagoon. Whoever is willing to know the lagoon and go all over its extensions should take mineral water, soft drinks, fruits, medicines, first aid and a sack essential to collect the garbage. If you want to venture in the bush, jean pants and tennis shoes are recommended. Now, if only to swim, nothing is better than only the swimming suit.

The most famous part of Maracajaú, a beach on the northern Potiguar coast, 65 km away from Natal, is an area of coralina (coral) already transformed into an APA (Area of Environmental Protection) and is located along the coast of Litoral das Emoções and best known as ‘parrachos’, occupying an area of 13 square kilometers, at a depth of between one to four meters at low-water, and are located seven kilometers to the beach.

It is an established tourist attraction that has been transforming the former fishing colony into a tourism product of Rio Grande do Norte, also protecting the environment, with the necessary care to preserve. There are several companies that make the tours by boat or catamaran, good restaurants and nice pousadas trained to provide treatment that makes the guest feel at home.
