The agitation of the streets and the beach of Pipa were still bubbling in the head of the tourist who had lived through an intensive Saturday in the badalações of one of the most famous and agitated beaches of the northeast. Sunday morning he deserved a rest. From there, the invitation of a native invited him to go now for a paradise that he would go to love for its tranquility and peace. And all near the madness of Pipa and Tibau of the South. They only needed to cross by raft the lagoon of Guaraíras.

This vision of paradise, called Malembá, already makes an impression from a distance. A long cove limited by the sea and dunes, without rafts, houses are marked by a thin vegetation, resultant of the action of the winds on what was left of an exuberant Atlantic brush. While crossing the Guaraíras lagoon you already realize that there is a difference from the normal potiguar coast.

They are four kilometers of untouchable seaside. It is the only beach of the city of Senador Georgino Avelino and, although its neighbors are the famous Tibau do Sul and Barreta, in Nísia Forest, can be considered the last paradise, still conserved, on the Litoral dos Golfinhos (Coast of the Dolphins), a stretch between the Barreira do Inferno and the beach of Pipa. In Malembá there is not a fishing village, much less houses of the veranistas (summer houses); it does not have beach ‘barracas’ (or shacks) or sophisticated restaurants and bars. Only beach exists. Sea and dunes form its appearance. The coconut palms, that indicate the presence of man, almost do not exist. So far it is alone and pure.

From time to time the landscape it is broken by the presence of beach buggys passing its coast or covering its dunes, for people who walk in the search of peace or for fishermen in search of a calm activity. Along the sea young men and women try and cut the waves with their kite-surfs like colored candles breaking the monotony of the landscape, using to advantage the strong winds that blow on that coast and the absence of swimmers.

The geographic situation of Malembá has contributed for its differential. Although belonging to Senador Georgino Avelino, the beach does not have direct contact with the city, therefore between them they are lagoons, manguezais and dunes and the connection is made by boats or small canoes. The beach to the south is limited by the lagoon of the Guaraíras, to the west by dunes and manguezais and to the north for the beach of Barreta. The access is only possible during the ebb tide, from Barreta or by the passage of the rafts of the Lagoon of the Guaraíras, from Tibau do Sul.

But for those who desire a true adventure and if to delight with the typical foods of the region, there is an imperdível program: Go until you arrive at the city of Georgino Avelino, that is the 55 kilometers from Natal, by the BR-101 and RN - 002, and reach the high part, where there is the Bar da Oyster where there is an infinity of typical plates, mainly oyster, shrimp and chicken caipira. Later contract a canoeiro (canoe operator), there in the same bar or on the small wharf of atracamento, and with him venture among fens and igarapés until arriving at the dunes. Later affronting the dunes and, at the end, delight with the marzão. It is advisable to take water, cold drinks or cold cervejinhas (beer) and respective tira-gostos (snacks), because on the beach you will find no support.

The preservation of the beach also is the result of a great tourist project that is being projected by a Franco-Swiss group, who intends to implant there a great resort endowed with an international marina, golf courses and activities of leisure and adventure. The complex plans to respect the dunes and the sea and intends to keep Malembá with the same face: four kilometers free of constructions, but with a structure that would allow the guest to continue enjoying a paradise of pureness.
